Greg Holland has been playing drums for 25 years. In addition, he's a State Licensed Teacher, and Fine-Artist. After living and working in Iowa for 15 years, Greg returned to his hometown of St. Louis, MO where he began playing drums at the age of eight.
He graduated from Pattonville High School (Maryland Heights, MO) in 1997. Having been meditating since a boy, and wanting to continue his spiritual development, Greg attended Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, IA. There, all of the students, staff, and faculty practice Transcendental Meditation twice a day.
“My experiences meditating continue to help me keep a balance between rest and activity, an important routine especially for the varied hours of a working artist or musician. That deep, quiet, peace provides me with a greater sense of Self, making me a more dynamic, intuitive, and creative drummer”
In 2002 he received a Bachelors of Fine Arts and Bachelors in Secondary Education. Since then, Greg’s been teaching full time, primarily middle and high school art.
With his drive for success and diverse drumming abilities, Greg quickly made a name for himself in SE Iowa, having previously played and performed with Firebird, House 11, The Jefferson County Green Band, the River Dog Blues Band, and most recently, Truckstop Souvenir, Heather Miller, The Nameless Sorrows, All Souls On Deck, and a Neil Young tribute band. Currently Greg teaches Art at Timberland High School in the Wentzville R-IV School District.
Some of Greg's influence and inspirations include Carter Beauford, Manu Katche, Neil Peart, Shannon Leto, and Kim Thompson.
